FIFA sanctions former president of the Peruvian federation for corruption

The Decision-making Body of FIFA’s independent Ethics Committee sanctioned Manuel Francisco Antonio Burga Seoane, former president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), for having “participated in a series of bribes and accepting undue pecuniary benefits”.

Burga Seoane, who was also a member of the Executive Committee of CONMEBOL and the Development Committee of FIFA, “will not be able to participate in any type of activity related to football and ordered the payment of a fine of one million Swiss francs (R$ 5, 6 million),” the organization said in a statement.

Fifa’s justice considers the former football manager responsible for “having participated in a series of bribes and having accepted undue pecuniary advantages”.

FIFA also announced the disqualification of Bimo Wirjasoekarta, president of Indonesian club Tira Persikabo “after condemning him for acts of intimidation, coercion, threat and exploitation of a football player”, in addition to a fine of 10,000 Swiss francs.

FIFA recalls in the statement its “unequivocal commitment against all types of abuse in football” and for that purpose it has “a confidential, exclusive and high-security virtual reporting system, so that anyone can report a suspicion related to the safeguard “.

This Monday, FIFA had already starred in a controversial episode with the Peruvian federation by removing the country’s right to host the 2023 U-17 World Cup.
