He Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin) reported that the corresponding monthly review has been carried out, in compliance with what is indicated by the regulations on updating electricity rates, and it was established that from April 4, the electricity rates of the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) will be reduced.
In detail, the costs for residential users will decrease approximately 0.95%, while for commercial and industrial users they will decrease by 0.77%. It should be noted that the electricity tariff is made up of the efficient values of generating, transmitting and distributing electricity to users.
On the other hand, the electricity rates of the Isolated Electrical Systems will be reduced by 1.18% for residential users and by 1.81% for commercial and industrial users.
Why will the rates have a reduction?
In April 2023, the reduction is due to the application of the formulas for updating the Fixed Charge and the Value Added Distribution (VAD), the Unit Tolls for Connection to the Main Transmission System and those for Compensations for Secondary and Complementary Transmission Systems. In addition, the variation in the WPI, the exchange rate and the prices of copper and aluminum also have an impact.
In accordance with current regulations, electricity rates are reviewed by Osinergmin every month, based on update formulas and values of indicators such as the Wholesale Price Index (IPM), the exchange rate, the price of natural gas, fuel prices, copper and aluminum prices, as well as contracts signed between generation and distribution companies to provide electricity to users.
