Yape and Plin started with the first stage of interoperability

The Yape and Plin digital wallets can already interoperate with each other from Friday, March 31, as provided by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP). The representatives of both applications announced that they have already started the process and that it will be implemented in stages.

The leader of the tribe Yape, Rufino Arribas, pointed out that this mobile wallet has already started the first operations with its competitor. “This week we have made the first 10,000 transactions between Yape and Plin,” detailed.

In addition, he indicated that this functionality is currently deployed to a small group of users. However, he announced that, from April 12, interoperability will reach his 12 million customers.

For his part, Mauricio Sánchez, head of Plin, He specified that the first phase of interoperability will end in the coming weeks. “This stage will end in the second half of April and will begin a deployment phase for 100% of the users,” he commented.

The Yape representative explained that after interoperability, the same conditions of mobile wallets will continue, including the limits for sending and receiving money.

Users of this application can pay up to S/500 and receive up to S/20,000 per day. In the case of Plin, the maximum payment amount is also S/500 with a cap of S/1,500 per day. In what corresponds to the reception, the maximum amount is S/6,600 or 45 operations.

Finally, Arribas stressed that the free service will be maintained at all times.

Affiliates. Yape has six registered financial entities: Mibanco, Banco de la Nación, BCP, Caja Cusco, Caja Piura and Caja Tacna. Instead, Plin is the digital wallet for Scotiabank, BanBif, BBVA, Interbank, Caja Arequipa and Caja Sullana.
