Ministry of Economy and Finance proposes to unify the public pension system

At the beginning of July of last year, the Government —at that time of Pedro Castillo— created a multisector commission to propose a reform of the pension system. However, until today they have not sent any document that proves his work.

“The system in our country fails everywhere (…) It is important to stop throwing the ball at us. The Multisectoral Commission of the Executive until today (yesterday) March 29, having been installed a year ago, does not send the diagnostic report, not even his proposal. We are late,” said Rosangella Barbarán, president of the Economic Commission of Congress.

In the words of Zosimo Pichihua, Vice Minister of Economy, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) “does not have a formal proposal in black and white” despite the fact that Minister Alex Contreras He had guaranteed that the Executive’s plan would be in place in March.

However, last night, during his visit to the Congressional Budget Committee, Contreras announced that among the prioritized issues in his trench is the unification of the National Pension System (SNP) regimes.

“As many congressmen have pointed out, there cannot be such heterogeneous and unequal regimes within the State. As part of the pension reform proposal, we are going to establish a minimum pension that is equal to all public systems”, the official indicated.

Let us remember that currently the SNP is made up to a large extent by the contributors of the ONP; however, there are schemes for workers in the fishing and mining sectors, as well as military and police, among others.

Contreras Miranda points out that although an additional cost will be generated to the State, it is time to “order the house” to guarantee a minimum amount in retirement for everyone.
