MEF proposes uniting public schemes in the new pension system

The head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Alex Contrerasannounced this Wednesday that his portfolio will propose the unification of the various regimes that currently exist in the National Pension System (SNP).

“As many congressmen have pointed out, there cannot be such heterogeneous and unequal regimes within the State. As part of the reform of the pension system, we are going to establish a minimum pension for all public systems“He told the Congressional Budget Committee.

Contreras Miranda acknowledged that although this will demand additional spending from the State, it is time to “order the house” and guarantee a minimum amount of money for retirees “not only from fishing, but to all national regimes.”

It is worth noting that currently within the SNP are pension funds for fishermen, mining and metallurgical workers, military and police. For the most part, this model is made up of workers linked to the ONP.
