There will be a new investment in Machal, one of the cities that was unfortunately hit by a magnitude 6.6 earthquake on February 18.

The new building will be built on Avenida 25 de Junio, in the center of the city, and on March 28, the first stone will be laid where Piazza Machala is currently located.

The current goal, according to Alfredo Baqueriz, president of the construction company Conalba, will be the construction of Gran Piazza Machala, which is expected to open in September 2024.

“We have been working on projects of all kinds for almost 40 years: residential, industrial, commercial, corporate. We develop squares, which are shopping centers. We already have eight piazzas, which we built in Machala 12 years ago. We will now develop a Shopping Mall because of the great growth of Machala,” says Baquerizo.

Three million dollars will be the investment of the new commercial square in Villa del Rey

The work will have 70,000 m2 of construction and 40,000 m2 of commercial space, including Megamaxi, Mega Kiwi, Juguetón, Todo hogar, Produbanco, Pycca, Multicines, Etafashion, RM, Fybeca, Marathon Sports and Banco Guayaquil.

It will have 1,000 parking spaces and create around 3,000 jobs. “This will require 1,500 jobs during the construction period directly and 1,000 indirectly, close to 500 permanently once construction is inaugurated. Shopping Mallsays Baquerizo.

Each floor will have mezzanine floors and will have a solar panel system. With a certificate to reduce the carbon footprint.

“This new investment has been very well received, we are very grateful to the Machaleños. We had very long and detailed technical discussions with the municipality’s technical team, looking at everything, including the electrical, sanitary, fire protection and structural parts,” says Baquerizo.

Likewise, he comments that Gran Piazza Machala is strategic because of its location. “There are certain towns that are a short distance away, like 20 minutes, which increases the number of residents that will go to Shopping Mall. Machala even receives people from the border. It is a very important manufacturing center and there are people who travel to Machala to shop,” says Baquerizo.

In 2023, a megaproject will be built in Guayaquil that will activate 1,500 sources of employment

The official notes that this work will help rebuild the earthquake-hit city. “It is a working-class city, which produces, which is dedicated to agriculture, shrimp, there is mining, bananas, cane, everything. People are used to working, unfortunately they experienced a blow. There is still sadness for the people who died, who lost their homes, but people are standing up, they are brave”, he claims.

Meanwhile, a few days ago, Conalba started the construction of Piazza Villa del Rey, at the 14th kilometer of Avenida León Febres-Cordero, in Daule.

This project will have an investment of three million dollars with 3500 m2 of land and 1500 m2 of commercial spaces, including Nelson Market, Pycca, Fybeca, Barcabi.

“Piazza Villa del Rey reiterates its commitment to be a contribution to society, providing with this work employment for 300 people under construction, most of them workers from the canton of Daula, and when it is put into operation it is estimated that there will be at least 50 new sources of permanent work”, they say from the construction company.
