Legislator Alejandro Soto Reyes, from the bench Alliance for Progressproposes that the State establish protection measures for tourist guides and that they be given a voucher to help them develop their activities related to the promotion of the sector in the country in the context of economic recovery. Although the amount of the subsidy is not specified, it is noted that it must be determined according to budgetary availability.
The PL 4566 specifies that the objective of the norm is to protect and promote the work of this professional recognized by the law of the tourist guide (28529). If the initiative is approved, the Executive Branch would have 60 days to prepare the regulations.
“It must be remembered that tourist activity has been the most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19 and it will be the last to be fully reactivated, being the independent workers, as is the case of tourist guides, the most affected who have found themselves unemployed from one moment to the next, without having received the support that allows them to survive”, indicates the document.
The proposal was presented on March 24 and must go through the evaluation of the congressional commissions before its debate and vote in plenary.
