Ripley, Cencosud, Antamina, Gloria and Tottus among the 10 most fined companies in labor matters

The Occupational Health and Safety Law (No. 29783), whose regulations were approved by Supreme Decree No. 005-2012-TR 10 years ago, aims to ensure the welfare of workers. In this sense, it seeks to prevent work accidents and occupational diseases through the supervision and control of the State.

It covers both the private and public labor sectors. It also includes the Armed Forces, the Peruvian National Police, and independent workers.

Which are the companies with the most fines for breaching the SST?

According to information from the National Superintendence of Labor Inspection (sunafil), the company that accumulates the most fines (42) has for the concept of Safety and Health at Work (OSH) from 2014 to 2022 is Ripley Peru, whose sanction is greater than S / 2 million. It is followed by EsSalud, with a debt of more than S/4 million.

Likewise, Palmas Del Shanusi and Cencosud Retail have a penalty for more than S/1 million and maintain more than 30 fines each. While Southern Copper Corporation and Nexa Resources Peru, have sanctions of more than S / 3 million. Finally, Innova Ambiental, Tottus Hypermarkets, the Antamina mining company and Leche Gloria Sociedad Anónima hold amounts greater than S/8,000 for punishment.

“Ripley and EsSalud lead the ranking of companies with the most resolutions of firm fines. Between them they add up to more than S/6 million in fines.”said Sigrid Bazán, congresswoman from the Juntos por el Perú bench and president of the Labor and Social Security Commission.
