Mincetur elaborates norm that regulates accommodation of tourists in houses and apartments

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported that said portfolio prepares a normative project with the objective of regulating the accommodation of tourists in homes and apartments.

During his presentation before the Foreign Trade and Tourism Commission, in Congress, José Espinoza, director of Tourism Development Policies of the Mincetur, detailed that the proposal is part of the implementation of the contract signed with the World Bank (BM).

The official explained that between the months of March and April of this year, both the vice minister of tourism and the National Directorate of Tourism Culture and the companies representing the World Bank have exchanged observations and comments on the normative project.

In addition, on June 24, the Vice Ministry has sent additional observations to the draft of the document, which is pending validation by the new management.

In that line, Espinoza He highlighted that the regulatory issue has developed another vision in addition to what was normally had before the pandemic.

“Accommodation for tourists in homes and apartments is the new form of development, since at this time families are mainly looking to rent when they visit a tourist destination. They prefer to socialize in groups or family circles, so renting a house or an apartment makes them no longer have contact as they are in hotels and we must as a sector regulate them. That is why both the World Bank and the Mincetur are working on this proposal ”, he specified.
