In statements to the media, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Madeleine Burns, stated that tourism for Easter 2023 will generate more than 100 million dollars at the national level. The main beneficiaries of this income will be the small and microenterprise in the sector. “Tourism is a very important model, a locomotive for development,” said the Mincetur representative.
It was stated that local and regional travel will be sought during Holy Week 2023. He added that most regions are enabled to receive visits, except Puno and some areas of Lambayeque. “We invite you all to travel. Projections are over 2 million of visitors in general and, in Lima, at least one million travelers”, he specified.
The central highway is secured and a joint work with the police Highways and Tourism, Burns said. He invited the population to review the enabled maps to verify the roads that are available. It is estimated that Puno will suffer a strong loss in the tourism sector due to the protests in the region.
“The state is doing everything possible for recovery because we are confident that Peru is going to recover”, he commented. Mainly, artisans and restaurants will benefit from this income.
