Inspecció de Traball de la Generalitat has proposed a sanction of 30,000 euros to Vueling for the airline’s dress and makeup codes, the Generalitat and the company explained this Thursday.

As has progressed The newspaperthe airline urged female cabin crew to wear 2- to 3-inch heels, apply foundation that matched their skin tone, and wear black eyeliner and mascara.

Vueling has assured that they are working “to listen to the demands of the union and the collective” since in April 2022 the Stavla union denounced the dress codes before the Inspecció de Treball.

Thus, the company has said that it has eliminated the gender distinction from the dress code, has made the use of makeup “totally optional” and has offered various shoe models, with options starting at 3-centimeter heels.

The Minister of Finance and Public Function, Maria Jesus Monterohas affirmed that it “points” to any sanction that goes against the objectification of the body or the image of a woman in the development of her work.

According to the general secretary of the UGT, Pepe Alvarez, this is one more case of “inequality” and “machismo” that continues to exist in workplaces. “It is the use of women for purposes for which she is not hired”, commented the trade unionist.
