From the Ministry of Production (Produce) They promote a general cooperative bill to directly benefit more than three million members and, indirectly, more than nine million Peruvians within the family nucleus of members.
The initiative seeks to strengthen the cooperative sector and, according to the head of Produce, José Incio Sánchez, will impact 3,000 agricultural, agro-industrial, savings and credit cooperatives, artisanal fishing, among others.
“We are working on a general cooperative law project, the same one that will promote a better organization, operation and sustainability of cooperatives in Peru. Likewise, we want to give greater impulse, strengthening and recognition to the cooperative sector, ”the official noted.
Incio Sánchez specified that the new cooperative law will make it easier for the executive sectors to propose specific norms in favor of the cooperatives in their rectory, thus having a defined general framework.
In addition, the project contemplates the promotion of cooperatives and creates strategic promotion guidelines, including the following: administrative simplification for procedures for the constitution and formalization of cooperatives, technical cooperation, competitive funds, research, innovation, use of technology and training in cooperative matters, among others.
It also creates the procedures for transformation, merger, division and simple reorganization of cooperatives; and forms the cooperative national council, attached to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The minister stressed that the bill will be submitted to Congress before the end of this year for due debate and promulgation.
