Fonavi: Ad hoc Commission has more than S/2,000 million to initiate return of contributions

The Chairman of the Budget Committee of the Congress of the republicJosé Luna Gálvez, pointed out that the ad hoc commission, in charge of making effective the return of the contributions of the National Housing Fund (Fonavi), has more than S / 2,000 million, which should be destined for the payment to the fonavistas.

The parliamentarian explained that the ad hoc commission had more than S/1,997 million 508,000 in their accounts, however, in the last Budget Law for fiscal year 2023, an additional S/50 million was allocated in favor of this working group to initiate the return of contributions.

There are more than S / 2,000 million that the State has to meet the more than 2 million fonavistas; it is a social debt, postponed for many years and that the government no longer has excuses to start repayment in the shortest possible time,” said Luna Gálvez.

The congressman from the Podemos Peru bench also regretted that the Constitutional Court (TC) ruled that the State should only return the contributions of the worker, but not those of their employers. However, Luna Gálvez urged the Executive power not to delay this process and start with the return, taking into account the economic crisis.

“At least it will be a relief for these two million Peruvians and the government will not be able to use the excuse of fiscal imbalance, because the total debt has been significantly reduced,” added the parliamentarian, who noted that Congress will continue to fight for the total recovery of the contributions of the fonavistas.
