Congresswoman Digna Calle, from Podemos Peru, through Official Letter No. 046-2022-DCL/CR, requested the Commission of Economy, Banking, Finance and Financial Intelligence of the Congress – chaired by parliamentarian Rosángella Barbarán – give speed to the approval of the rule that seeks the seventh withdrawal of funds from AFP affiliates.
“Urgently prioritize the preparation and debate of the forecast of Bill No. 4021/2022-CR, ‘Law that authorizes members of the private pension fund management system, to optionally withdraw their funds for up to an amount of 4 UIT’”, can be read in the document.
He also pointed out that there are more than 8.6 million citizens who are waiting for the green light to be given to this measure after the economic impact generated by the heavy rains and floods that have occurred in the country in recent days.
Executive requests to wait
On the other hand, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contreras, has disagreed with the approval of a new withdrawal from pension funds and a recognition bond, which would cost S/4.7 billion in one year. In this sense, he reiterated to the Legislature to wait for the new proposals for the pension reform that the Executive and other entities have been promoting.
“It must be recognized that there is a good intention (the recognition bond), but I ask the Plenary to wait a couple of months until they have the reform (of the Executive). Congress already has its pension reform commission, the Executive too , there is a proposal from the BCRP, one from the private sector, etc. Let’s agree on this reform and not get ahead of ourselves,” Contreras invoked.
