Euskaraz irakurri: 171 pertsona atxilotu dituzte Parisen, Gobernuak zentsura mozioak gainditu osteko protestetan

At least 171 people have been arrested in the last hours during the serious disturbances registered in Paris coinciding with the overcoming, by the minimum (by only nine votes) of the two motions of censure against the Government of France. The opposition has denounced the arrest of peaceful protesters, including politicians from La Francia Insumisa.

Hundreds of people have taken to the streets of central Paris to protest against the imposition of the pension reform. Some protesters have knocked over garbage containers, set them on fire and have looted shops in the most emblematic shopping streets of the French capital, according to the French press.

The Police have deployed BRAV-M riot police who have chased those responsible for these havoc on motorcycles in the Montmartre, Opera or Louvre area.

The leader of La Francia Insumisa, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, has called for the “immediate cessation of the arrests”. “Tonight, dozens of peaceful people were violently and arbitrarily detained. Among them Emma Fourreau, co-responsible for Jóvenes Insumisas, and Laurent Abrahams, activist with La Francia Insumisa. We demand the immediate end of the arrests and the release of the prisoners! !”, The left-wing leader has published on Twitter.

The mobilizations have been reproduced in many other French cities. In Marseille, a hundred protesters have tried to storm the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture, reports le figaro citing police sources. The Police have charged against all of them. The situation has been similar in Toulouse and Bordeaux, where the Police have used tear gas to disperse the crowd. There have also been protests in Montpellier (south), Nancy, Strasbourg (northeast), Dijon (east) and Rennes (northwest).

Borne, on the tightrope

Meanwhile, the Élysée has announced that the French president, Emmanuel Macron, will answer tomorrow, Wednesday (1:00 p.m.), to questions from journalists from the public television channels TF1 and France 2, without going into the changes that he could announce, regarding those who are circulating rumors in recent days.

Among the different hypotheses, the one that has sounded the most in recent days is a remodeling of its Government.

Today, Tuesday, it will host the Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne (09:00 am), whose continuity is questioned from some sectors. Later, he will have lunch with the presidents of both legislative chambers, that of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, and that of the Senate, Gérard Lacher. At the end of the afternoon, the parliamentarians of the three parties that support his government are summoned to the Elysee.
