Congresswoman Digna Calle, from the Podemos Peru bench, presented this Monday, March 20, a legal initiative that seeks to modify two articles of the law that creates the Housing Family Bonus (BFH). This, with the aim of extending this benefit to families in the sectors most in need of housing.
In detail, within the minimum selection criteria to be a beneficiary of the BFH it would be specified that the net monthly family income should not exceed S/3,715, both for the modality of construction on its own site and for the acquisition of new housing. In addition, it is sought that it is no longer mandatory to have a minimum savings in a financial institution to access this housing bond.
It would also allow access to the family housing voucher individually or collectively, regardless of whether they belong to the same family group.
Likewise, it is proposed that the allocation of the BFH be coordinated with the district municipalities, which could make the documentation transparent and adequately filter compliance with the minimum requirements to access financing for the acquisition of a new social housing or for construction on its own site. of decent housing to the families that most need it.
If this legislative initiative is successfulthe parliamentarian estimates that more than 51,000 families would have access to decent housing each year during 2023, just for the modality of new housing, and if construction on its own site is considered, the figure would increase to almost 100,000 per year.
The data
Peru has an annual demand for 450,000 homes, most of which is concentrated in Lima and Callao. However, the existing supply amounts to only 90,500 units.
