Meanwhile, the Ecuadorian Business Committee (CEE) also coordinated donations for those affected by the earthquake. Miguel Ángel González, President of the Committee, assured that the business sector is committed to the communities affected by the recent earthquake.

“In this sense, we have already made various donations that include products, supplies for the care of the victims, tents and food, among others. And we will continue to do so,” González said.

He added: “In times of crisis, businessmen increase their social responsibility, which suits us. We are convinced that cooperation between the business and public sectors is essential to achieve the fastest possible recovery of those affected by a natural disaster”.

Likewise, several unions have expressed their solidarity with those affected, such as the Association of Tuna Fishing of Ecuador (Atunec).

“The Ecuadorian Tuna Fishing Association deeply regrets the tragedy that has befallen at least fourteen Ecuadorian families following the 6.5 magnitude earthquake that rocked the country. Our heart is with you. It’s time to be united to overcome these difficult moments together,” the entity said.

The quake left more than $10 million in losses to the shrimp industry, which continues to assess the damage

Meanwhile, the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (FedExpor) also expressed its regret for the consequences of the earthquake and expressed its condolences and solidarity to the affected families.

The union assures that the event also damaged the road infrastructure for the development of export sector activities.

“We are continuously monitoring, together with the various government portfolios, to identify and direct urgent actions in terms of infrastructure attention, to guarantee the proper functioning of the export chain,” the union said.
