EP Petroecuador reported on March 19 that the Campo Amistad facilities, gas fields, located in the sea, were affected by a seismic event 6.6 degrees which had its epicenter on the island of Puná, in the Gulf of Guayaquil. The ominous one significantly affected four provinces in the country and left at least thirteen deaths.

The state-owned company indicated this as part of the effects, the heater stack has failed and is therefore disabled. Additionally, the pipeline was pressurized and the MDB 2030 separator was clogged.

According to a statement from the state-owned company, the impact is estimated to be one million cubic feet of gas. “To date, the field reports production that exceeds 20.5 million cubic feet per day”. However, the figure released by the company is lower than 25 million cubic feet which were produced until a few weeks ago. In any case, the announcement also means production will drop to 19 million cubic feet per day.

The company also said that in this situation, the crews of the public company are working unhindered to repair the blocks as soon as possible, always under the assumption of protecting the integrity of the personnel working on the construction site.

María Elisa Soledispa, manager of Petroecuador, communicated with the field manager on the Amistad platform coordinate current actions and find out the status of technical and service personnel working on this aircraft.

Campo Amistad has a large production potential that could reach 100 million cubic feet, according to technical reports from Petroecuador. The eventual tender for its concession to private companies is in doubt, because despite the favorable reports, he did not give in to the said tenders to the end.
