Workers of the residences on strike have demanded this Saturday in Bilbao that the Provincial Council of Bizkaia make “less propaganda and carry out concrete actions such as the renewal of the agreementto end the wage gap they suffer”.
The employees of this sector, who maintain a strike called by ELAhave once again mobilized through the streets of Bilbao to denounce the “blockade” suffered by their agreement and have recalled that they have already more than 30 days of strike.
The march started at 10:45 am from Calle Juan de Garay until it concluded in front of the steps of the Bilbao City Hall.
During the demonstration, the representative of ELA Ainhoa Tirapu has criticized that, when the employers are the institutions and there is talk of working conditions for women“labor conflicts take an awful lot”.
Tirapu has indicated that, with this mobilization, the workers have denounced “hypocrisy” of the institutionsin this case of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, “whose mouths fill up saying that the wage gap suffered by women must be ended”.
“When these women, like those in residences, fight to end this scourge, conflicts drag on remarkably. And that is the direct responsibility of the public institution,” he added.
Likewise, he has indicated that the staff has also ensured that the decision to privatize the residences is “political and has serious consequences for workers and users.” Along with this, he recalled that the ultimate goal of his fight is “publication of residences”.
