Yesterday, July 6, at 4 pm, the ad hoc commission was to meet, for the first time with its seven members, however, this did not happen because the four representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) they did not attend.
It should be remembered that the main task of the ad hoc commission is to define how the funds will be returned to ex-contributors of the National Housing Fund (Fonavi), according to the law approved on April 15 last.
A few minutes after the session began, Messrs. Hugo León Manco, Juan Melgarejo Castillo, Rodolfo Baca Gómez S. and María Andrade Ordoñez, representatives of the MEF, sent a letter justifying their absence in which they presented four observations.
Among the observations it is mentioned that they do not have an updated internal regulation that regulates the sessions of the commission, so they must be adjusted to these guidelines “so that the decisions and acts carried out by the ad hoc commission do not suffer from nullity,” the letter specifies.
Secondly, they note that the name of the association that “you preside over does not fully coincide with that set forth in Law No. 31454 (…). Likewise, in order for the accreditation of the representatives of your association before the commission to be legally perfected, it is important that such designation be registered in the registry entry No. 11013716 of legal entities of Lima”.
In this regard, the National Federation of Fonavis and Pensioners Association of Peru has pointed out that these are “fallacious and irrational”.
“The non-attendance of these people to the sessions of the commission is favorable to the Fonavistas because it is absolutely clear that they do not represent their interests, Rather, the objective is to crash the sessions in order to hinder and prevent the return of the money, in this line of conduct, their majority vote would harm the interests of the Fonavistas, ”they pointed out.
