The mackerel campaign begins, which from now on will have the Eusko Label
The Eusko Label will identify the mackerel that has been caught by boats with traditional fishing gear from the Basque Country and with a very good quality. In this way, we want to make it easier for consumers to be able to differentiate quality mackerel from the Basque Country.

Euskaraz irakurri: Berdelaren kanpaina hasi da, eta gaurtik Eusko Labela izango du
This Friday the mackerel coast in Euskadi with an important novelty, since, from now on, it will have the quality identification Basque Label.
The mackerel thus joins the family of products with the Eusko Label, and will have to comply with the provisions of a demanding technical regulation. Specifically, mackerel that has been caught by boats using traditional fishing gear will be identified with the Eusko Label (hook and seine) from Euskadi and with a very good quality caught in the usual area of the Basque inshore artisanal fleet. When classifying the fish (Extra or A.), quality issues such as external appearance, skin or consistency will be taken into consideration.
In this way, we want to make it easier for consumers to be able to differentiate quality mackerel from the Basque Country.
The presentation of the mackerel with the Eusko Label took place in Hondarribia and the Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapia, has highlighted that with the incorporation of the mackerel to the Eusko Label, it is giving the fishing sector of Euskadi “a new tool to ensure that your products reach the market with the most value possible and with greater opportunities and new commercial development tools”.
In addition to Tapia, the Basque Government’s Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Policy, Bittor Oroz, and representatives of the Basque fishing sector attended the presentation ceremony.
