Dollar in Peru: exchange rate closed higher and is trading at S / 3.8950

The price of the dollar closed the day on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 and stood at S / 3.8950. Thus, it advanced 0.90% in relation to the close of Monday when it reached S/ 3.8600, as reported by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).

The green ticket in the parallel market at 1:55 pm was trading at S/ 3,840 for purchase and S/ 3,890 for sale. Meanwhile, in the interbank market it was bought at S/ 3,804 and sold at S/ 3,96000, at the windows of the main banks.

Gianina Villavicencio, brokerage manager of Divisas en Renta 4 SAB Peru, indicated that during the day there was upward pressure due to offshore demand, while supply came from local corporations and banks. So in the market US$ 191 million were traded at an average price of S/ 3,8840.

“Today there were expirations of Foreign Exchange Swap Sale for S/ 500 million, placing S/ 1,100 million at 3 months with an average rate of 2.30%”, said the expert.

On a global level, the dollar has been strengthening given that energy prices are higher and the Federal Reserve it has been raising interest rates faster than most other central banks. Today the dollar index soared above 107 units, while the euro fell below US $ 1.02, in both cases for the first time since December 2002.
