Euskaraz irakurri: Espainiako Gobernuak UGT eta CCOO sindikatuekin eta Bruselaren babesarekin amaitu du pentsioen erreforma

The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, José Luis Escrivá, has sealed this Wednesday the last block of the pension reformagreed within the coalition government, with the support of Brussels and with the backing of the unions.

Two years after closing the first agreement on pensions, which once again linked them to inflation, among other measures, the Spanish Government has managed to meet the milestones committed to Brussels for the new disbursement of funds with a battery of measures focused on improving the income of the system to guarantee its “sustainability, equity and sufficiency”.

“We completed the modernization of the pension system”, Escrivá defended this Wednesday at the signing of the agreement on the reform together with the general secretaries of CCOO and UGTUnai Sordo and Pepe Álvarez, who have made ugly the absence of the employers in this pact.

The CEOE took off the hook last Monday from a reform that they believe will harm employment and criticized the “collection voracity” of the Government.

From the unions, both Álvarez and Sordo have applauded the measures included in a reform that “guarantees” the future of “sufficient” pensions.

“We give young people a reference in the medium and long term”, underlined Escrivá, who has valued the work carried out with the unions and within the coalition government, and has hoped to add the maximum parliamentary support to carry out the reform.

Commission of the Pact of Toledo in Congress

In this sense, Minister Escrivá has offered to the Toledo Pact Commission in Congress to process the pension reform as a bill, which the Government first wants to approve via decree for it to enter into force.

During his appearance in this commission and after criticism from various groups for the way in which the reform has been negotiated, Escrivá has suggested this possibility so that the groups can introduce amendments to the text around different elements of the new pension framework.

Regarding the positioning of the parliamentary groups, two of the fundamental partners for the processing of the norm, Esquerra Republicana (ERC) and EH Bildu, have given their approval to the reform, although they have not definitively defined their position . Thus, Iñaki Ruiz de Pinedo, from EH Bilduhas recognized that the reform finally presented has taken “very important steps”, which basically has to do with not extending the period for calculating pensions.

However, the deputy has also warned of “deficiencies” that they hope to be able to correct in their parliamentary step, such as the fact that there are pensions that are below the 1080 euros of the Minimum Interprofessional Salary.

The spokesman for the commission GNPÍñigo Bariandaran, has pointed out as negative the non-integration of some determinations related to the contributions of the self-employed in the cooperative sphere, which is one of the “main characteristics” of the Basque economy.
