Paracas is getting ready to receive 50,000 visitors at the traditional New Year’s Dinner 2022

At least 300 mayors from different jurisdictions nationwide will arrive this November 25 and 26 at the XIV Annual Conference of Municipalities – CAMUR, organized by the Network of Urban and Rural Municipalities of Peru (Remurpe), in the Paracas resort.

The president of the Paracas Chamber of Tourism and Foreign Trade (Capatur), Eduardo Jáuregui, said that this event will mark the launch of the so-called Summer Plan 2022, with which they hope to recover, over the next twelve months, 80% (600,000 tourists) of the visitors who were lost due to a pandemic.

“This is the first post-pandemic event that we held in this tourist bay, taking into account that it always took place in Lima and, for the first time, it was organized in the interior of the country. With this event of mayors, the Summer 2022 season is officially inaugurated ″, he said.

In this sense, Jáuregui specified that Paracas will once again be the scene to receive some 50,000 people on the occasion of the traditional New Year’s Dinner 2022. The resort hopes to attract about four million dollars for accommodation, food, trips to the Ballestas Islands and the Paracas National Reserve, among others.

“In Paracas, you can camp, in addition to having a capacity for 10,000 beds available. They will be there from December 30 and will extend their stay until January 2, 2022 ″, affirmed the head of Capatur.

However, he considered that the full recovery of the sector (853,000 tourists in 2019) will still be achieved in 2023, vaccination through and relief of restrictions.

Pisco Sour Day and Paracas Anniversary

On the other hand, the business leader announced the organization of Pisco Sour Day to take place on the first Saturday in February. Among the activities to be carried out, the crowning of the Queen of Pisco Sour 2022 stands out, and Pisco Sour cocktail competitions between representatives of restaurants and hotels in the area.

“The 10,000 attendees will have the opportunity to taste the different varieties of Pisco Sour and highlight the origin of our main national drink for more than 500 years,” said Eduardo Jáuregui.

Also, referring to the anniversary of Paracas, confirmed that the mayor Rosario Ramírez will announce the activities that will take place on March 8, the date on which its birth as a district belonging to the province of Pisco (Ica) is commemorated.

“For the anniversary of Paracas, the attendance of about 30,000 people is expected,” estimated Jáuregui.

Harvest Festival and Easter

Another activity that the Paracas Chamber of Tourism and Foreign Trade will organize is the Harvest Festival scheduled for the end of March next year. Eduardo Jáuregui announced that there will be a fair in which the best of the region’s wine production will be exhibited.

As part of the itinerary, you will be able to visit the wine cellars, as well as the election of the Paracas 2022 Harvest Queen. Finally, there will be two artistic presentations that will enliven the festival during its development.

Regarding Holy Week, the head of Capatur reported that Holy Week in Paracas will be essential for the visitor in their day of religious reflection and spiritual rest. Visitors, abiding by biosafety protocols, will camp on the various beaches that the Paracas National Reserve has.

“The arrival of about 60,000 people is expected and Paracas would attract about four million dollars in foreign currency,” he estimated.
