Peruvian Automotive Association: automotive sector expanded again in September

The Automotive Association of Peru (AAP) reported that the automotive sector expanded again in September, after registering a growth of 16.23% compared to the same period in 2020.

Alberto Morisaki, manager of Economic Studies of the AAP, said that this growth, reflected in the latest report of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), is due to the increase in the sale of motor vehicles, such as off-road trucks, pick-ups, vans , automobiles, etc., “in response to advertising strategies and payment facilities.”

“It is observed that the commerce sector increased 7.37% last September compared to the same month of 2020, driven by the growth of the automotive commerce (16.23%), retail commerce (3.69%) and commerce subsectors. wholesale (7.81%) ”, explained the executive.

The representative of the AAP expressed, in this regard, that “The recovery of the local economy in 2021 is solid due to the dynamism of various sectors”, such as construction, commerce, manufacturing industry, mining and hydrocarbons, among the most important.

“In the same way, the sale, maintenance and repair of motorcycles and their parts, pieces and accessories increased due to better sales campaigns and offers, with a higher demand for motorcycles and trimotos. The maintenance and repair of motor vehicles also increased, due to the growth of the client portfolio in vehicle washing, polishing and repair services, ”said Morisaki.

In addition, he highlighted that this year’s performance not only shows significant growth compared to 2020, but also that it would have slightly exceeded the levels of 2019, prior to the pandemic.
