The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, announced at a press conference on Monday March 13 the measures it will take to combat the ravages of Cyclone Yaku. Among them, he announced the restructuring of the Authority for Reconstruction with Changes and that the ministers will be deployed throughout the country to take the necessary measures. One of the initiatives is the elaboration of a bill for the creation of the National Infrastructure Authority (ANI).
This new entity will be in charge of the construction of emblematic works nationwideBesides the prevention and control of hydrographic basins at the national level for prevent landslides and floods. To carry this out, President Boluarte indicated that the ANI will have decentralized offices nationwide that will meet the needs of the population.
“Our compatriots and our country require definitive solutions against the ravages of nature, we need to protect the population and agriculture throughout the territory with firm works that last over time and not just short-term measures,” added Dina Boluarte.
This entity has a preventive purpose to avoid worse scenarios than those caused by Cyclone Yaku, which has so far generated 50 deaths and more than 7,000 victims throughout the country, according to the head of Civil Defense. The president pointed out that if something similar to or worse than the current one happens next year, the consequences could be more serious, for which “we must break the vicious circle,” she emphasized.
