Congresswoman Digna Calle Lobatón, member of the bench we can peruhas proposed to eliminate the collection of the commission for deposits and withdrawals of money made by users of their savings accounts in all financial entities authorized by the Superintendency of Banking and Insurance (SBS). It is estimated that more than 6 million citizens will benefit.
The PL 4359 is based on two premises: the need and opportunity lies in allowing consumers of financial services to put an end to the loss of their savings when making withdrawals or deposits; and the feasibility of the proposal, since financial entities have been assuming the free operations for the withdrawal and deposit of money from savings accounts.
According to the tariff delivered by the entities to the SBS, some charge up to S/7.00 per withdrawal from ATM savings accounts. For example, Banco Falabella (S/7.00 from the third withdrawal), Compartamos Financiera (S/3.00 after the seventh withdrawal), Caja Trujillo (S/3.00 after the sixth withdrawal), among others.
Meanwhile, for withdrawals from the window, some entities charge up to S/9.00. These are: Banco de Crédito (S/9.00, from the second operation), Banco Continental (S/8.00, from the third operation), Interbank (S/8.00, from the third operation), Banbif (S/3.00), among others.
“It is proposed to solve the problem that underlies the need for consumers or users to protect their savings when they deposit or withdraw their money in financial institutions, because they charge them commissions for carrying out said operations with amounts that even exceed the interest they pay to users compared to the commission charged for each withdrawal”, specified in the document.
The legislative initiative was presented on March 2 and is already in the Economy Commission for the preparation of the opinion or its filing. If there is consensus, it will go to plenary for debate and voting.
