Euskaraz irakurri: Iberdrolak elektrifikaziorako “bide zuzena” eta “helburuak” ezarri beharra defendatu ditu

The CEO of Iberdrola Spain, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, has defended that there should be a “direct route” to electrification because “the economy needs it”, and considers it important to “mark” objectives. In addition, it has stressed that it is necessary to “accelerate the pace” in the energy transition.

These reflections have been made within the framework of the conference “Euskadi towards the future-Etorkizunerantz”organized by Europa Press and held at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao.

In his speech, Mario Ruiz-Tagle recalled that Iberdrola began more than two decades ago with a “very clear” vision that the existing energy model heralded “certain and serious distortions in the world of the environment and climate”.

The head of Iberdrola pointed out that, in this context, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia arose and “weaknesses” that were not perceived and has affirmed that the war has revealed, not only the need for energy transition from the point of view of climate action, but also other concepts such as autonomy, self-sufficiency and independence as “a very key element”.

In his opinion, for all this to work, it is necessary to “accelerate the pace” and he believes that this is the “great lesson” that has been learned at this time. In this sense, he pointed out that Spain has some advantages because there are wind, water and sun.

After underlining, on the other hand, Iberdrola’s commitment to the Basque Country, with 600 suppliers and purchases of 1,700 million, he stated that all “clean ways” of energy creation.
