The Economy Commission approved last November 8 at the insistence of the opinion that grants the recognition bonus to affiliates of the Pension Standardization Office (ONP) who decided to migrate to the Private Pension System (SPP), that is, it obliges the State to recognize the contributions of these policyholders.
In this regard, the president of the ONP, Guillermo Parra Casas, pointed out that if this measure is approved in plenary, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) will be the entity in charge of evaluating the corresponding actions against the norm. “The ONP is a technical body, we simply take care of paying, of facing our monthly pension payment. The Ministry of Economy is the body that will regulate this situation. We cannot advance an opinion without having a main opinion from the MEF itself” he told The Republic.
In addition, he added that his office has previously issued technical reports that have been unfavorable to the legislative initiative. “We are waiting for the MEF to propose the solution that we are going to give to this approval,” he added.
Likewise, he indicated that, in case the norm becomes law, the first thing that the ministry must do is determine in what time the bonds will be granted to the beneficiaries. “That favors us because it will be immediate,” he stressed.
Finally, he stressed that the MEF will decide whether to take the law to the Constitutional Court.
