Minem will invest S/21 million to bring natural gas to Ayacucho

With the objective of making the massification of natural gas in Ayacucho effective, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) met with the Regional Government to articulate efforts to make this measure viable, in addition to advancing in the development of the southern pipeline and implement programs that allow the population to have energy at a lower price.

In said meeting, the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons of Minem, Enrique Bisetti Solari, ratified the commitment of the current Government to make the integrated gas transportation system in the southern zone of Peru. He also reported that, in addition to the natural gas network construction project for Huamanga, which will be used for residential, commercial and vehicular use, the office led by Oscar Vera has been promoting new investments that allow the development of the Petrochemical Industry, which would generate more employment and development.

“Ayacucho is a very important part of the natural gas massification project and is a priority region. We want to start building networks for central and southern Peru in Ayacucho, Cusco and Ucayali,” added the vice minister.

Resources for Ayacucho

In this line, the general director of Hidrocarburos del Minem, Carlo De Los Santos, announced that S/21 million will be invested in the construction of 33 kilometers of natural gas networks in Ayacuchoa regulation and measurement station, with the possibility of complementing the project with service stations.

The official explained that, while the new infrastructure to bring natural gas to Ayacucho is carried out, Minem implements the LPG Discount Voucher program of the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), which will grant a reduction of S/43 as of this month so that the most vulnerable families can buy their domestic gas cylinder at a lower price, and the discount will also be accessible to the 642 soup kitchens in the region.

For his part, the regional governor of Ayacucho, Wilfredo Oscorima, expressed his willingness to provide the facilities to accelerate the execution of the projects and also required the support of Minem to strengthen the electrical power in the province of Cora Cora, highlighting the importance of joint work between State authorities, for the benefit of citizens.
