This Monday, March 6, during the conference “Challenges, perspectives and opportunities for Peruvian mining” within the framework of PDAC 2023, the Minister of Energy and MinesOscar Vera Gargurevich, pointed out that for this year an investment of US$2,947 million is projected for four mining projects.
“We are committed to improving our position worldwide through the promotion of new mining projects and the sustainability of existing operations, promoting modern, responsible, sustainable investment in harmony with the surrounding communities,” said Vera.
New projects
Thus, the owner of the Minem He explained that construction of four mining projects is scheduled to start in 2023: Corani (Puno), Magistral (Áncash), Romina (Lima) and Antamina Replacement (Áncash), which represent a joint investment of US$2,947 million.
Likewise, by 2024 the implementation of the Zafranal (Arequipa) and Yanacocha Sulfuros (Cajamarca) projects is contemplated, which will have an investment of US$3,973 million. Thus, for 2023-2024 it is expected to add a total of US$6,920 in mining investment.
It should be noted that in 2022 Peru ranked sixth in the global ranking of countries that call for investments in mining exploration and for this year there will be a committed investment of US$596 million for 74 projects located in 17 regions.
