Cyber ​​Days: Indecopi announces inspection of discounts of participating companies

The National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) He affirmed that he started the verification of promotions during the Cyber ​​Days e-commerce campaign, which runs from Monday, November 15 to Wednesday, November 17 in order to protect consumer rights.

The entity reported that during the state of emergency, 299 audits to suppliers that carry out electronic commerce with the aim of complying with consumer protection regulations. Likewise, it reported that during the Cyber ​​Wow, an electronic commerce campaign carried out from October 25 to 29, 32 possible breaches of online sales companies were identified for announcing prices without including taxes, not indicating the stock of the products and not offering the validity of the promotion in the ads.

In this line, Indecopi announced that they will verify if the advertising in the Cyber ​​Days is really advantageous, as well as the purchasing processes via the internet and if the providers have complaint books on their digital platforms.

Recommendations to companies

Companies that participate in e-commerce campaigns must comply with the following, according to indecopi:

• Offers must be exceptional and temporary; that is, they will have to be calculated with respect to the ordinary offer.
• The advertised price must correspond to the final amount that the consumer will pay with taxes and additional charges included.
• If the price is published in dollars, it must have its equivalent in soles in the same conditions and characters.
• The product offered online must match the one delivered to consumers.
• They will have to inform in detail the conditions of the promotions. For example, if the promotion is only aimed at customers of a store, if you must buy a minimum amount, if the offer is valid during special hours, among others.
