Do UFOs Exist? Steven Spielberg answers. It’s a good theme for a sci-fi movie

One of the most famous American directors and winner of three Oscars has his own theory on the existence of extraterrestrial life. Although he admits that he has never seen an unidentified flying object himself, he does not rule out the existence of aliens. He also included a scientific theory that he believed could explain many paranormal phenomena.

Every moviegoer knows “Jaws”, “Schindler’s List” or “Saving Private Ryan”. The list of obligatory items from Spielberg’s filmography should also include his science-fiction productions – “AI Artificial Intelligence”, “War of the Worlds” based on the novel by Herbert George Welles or “Minority Report” based on a short story by Philip K. Dick. The director’s passion for paranormal phenomena, the world of the future and extraterrestrial life was reflected in one of his recent interviews.

Perfect science fiction

Steven Spielberg was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In the conversation, the filmmaker revealed which original sci-fi film he considers to be the best in his output – it’s “ET” from 1982, which he still watches with his children.

“ET” is actually the perfect movie. One of those that I can watch several times, and there are only a few. I’ve made over 30 movies, and there are maybe 5 or 6 movies that I might see again that I don’t.

– said the creator. The production debuted at the 35th Cannes Festival and won 4 Oscars – for best music, sound, sound editing and special effects. The interview also touched on the issue of UFOs. It turned out that the director had his own theory about it.

UFOs and time travel

Recently, the media has circulated information about witnesses who allegedly saw a UFO in the sky in the United States. However, the topic has been relevant since the Rosewell Incident in 1947. Things like this fascinate and inspire Spielberg.

I’ve never seen a UFO, unfortunately. I haven’t seen anything I can’t explain, but I believe there are people who have had the opportunity. What’s being talked about lately is fascinating. […] I think something is going on that needs to be looked at with the utmost care.

the director told the host. In his opinion, the issue of UFOs and visitors from outer space may be related to time travel.

I don’t believe we are alone in the universe. It’s impossible for us to be the only intelligent species in the universe. At the same time, it’s hard to believe that someone could travel 400 million light years without movies, unless they used black holes. What if these are not advanced civilizations, but us from the future? Half a million years from now, someone might want to go back to the second half of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first to do some research. They know something has happened that we don’t yet know about, and they’re trying to trace hundreds of years of history.

he said clearly fascinated. Spielberg’s theory not only allows us to hope that humanity, thanks to similar skills, is able to survive longer, but also provides interesting material for the script for the next sci-fi movie. Meanwhile, the director focused on feature films and, in a way, autobiographical ones – his latest production, “Fabelmans”, is triumphant.
