Its production has been concentrated in a small number of regions and countries, and currently the top 10 producing countries account for almost 80% of world production, although new cultivation areas are emerging rapidly.

However, it is expected that close to 74% of avocado production will continue to correspond to Latin America and the Caribbean, motivated by the favorable growing conditions in this region. It is projected that in response to rapidly growing global demand, the avocado becomes the most commercialized tropical fruit by 2030 and adds 3.9 million tons of exportsthus surpassing pineapple and mango in terms of quantity.

In this way, production is expected to rise to 12 million tons by 2030, three times more than the level reached in 2010. Ample global demand and lucrative export unit prices remain the main drivers of this growth, spurring considerable investment in acreage expansion, both in large production areas and in emerging ones, according to the report.
