The Plenary of Congress approved this Friday to prohibit spam calls and text messages for commercial purposes.
With 105 votes in favor, a substitute text enacted in bills 2942, 3131 and 3541 was endorsed, which modifies Law 29571 (Consumer Protection and Defense Code)in order to put an end to this form of communication.
“They call you at 11 or 12 at night to sell a product, others at 6 in the morning, and they have obtained telephone databases from different companies. This abusive practice has to stop,” argued José Luna Gálvez, president of the Congressional Budget Committee.
According to the approved text, Only users who have given their consent to the company to receive information and advertising can be contacted directly about a particular product or service.

If the invasive practice continues, the companies will incur a very serious offense and may be penalized by Indecopi.
