The rise in the international price of fuels has been seriously affecting Peru, where the gasohol cost rose to S/ 7 so far in 2022. In this situation, a saving alternative is vehicular natural gas (NGV), which is up to S/ 25 cheaper per gallon than the gasoline.
The Government executes the GNV Savings program, which offers 100% financing without down payment or interest for the conversion of light gasoline, gasohol or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to him CNG. This coverage reaches S/ 4,300 and can be returned in a maximum of 3 years, through the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE).
Where can I access the NGV Savings program?
The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) reported that this program financed the conversion of some 26,500 vehicles since 2008, which represents 75% of the mobile units that opted for natural gas. CNG savings It is available in Lima, Callao, Ica, Junín, Cusco, Áncash, La Libertad, Lambayeque and Piura. The Government contemplates a discount bonus of S / 1,000 for users from the provinces.
For this 2022, the Executive plans to convert about 70,000 vehicles, for which they allocated a budget of S/ 270 million. The technical procedure is carried out in the 170 mechanical workshops authorized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), of which 140 are in Lima and Callao.
The PCM also indicated that these procedures are “clean, safe and economical.” In this sense, they reaffirmed that the conversion to CNG does not damage vehicle components. “The fact that the use of CNG implies damage or greater wear of the motor of the mobile unit”, they maintained.
