Between March, April and May 2023, electric companies must exceptionally grant a discount of S/10 for each month for the payment of the electric service of a group of beneficiaries.
osinergmin reported that it will supervise that electric companies apply the Electricity Bonus in favor of users in vulnerable condition, who meet the requirements established in the norm. Thus, in March, April and May 2023, Electric companies must grant, exceptionally, a subsidy (discount) of S/10 for each month for the payment of electric service. In this way, the subsidy will be S/30 per beneficiary, in accordance with the provisions of Law 31688.
The beneficiary does not have to carry out any formality to access the bonus, since the electricity company must inform users about the discount of S/10 per month through the electricity bill.
In the event that companies fail to grant the Electricity Bonus, Osinergmin will impose the respective sanctions. He Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) will make the transfer of money to the electricity companies so that they comply with the execution of this measure.
What are the requirements to access the Electricity Bonus?
Through Law 31688, the State created the Electricity Bonus and established that the beneficiaries will be home users in a situation of vulnerability. This law has established the following requirements to be a creditor of the economic subsidy:
- Home users with average consumption of up to 100 kW/h during August 2021 to July 2022whose supply is located in blocks classified by the INEI as low, medium-low and medium stratum.
- Users located in rural areas who access electricity through photovoltaic systems (solar panels), registered in July 2022.
- Collective provisional supplies, with a medium or low voltage meter, with average consumption of up to 100 kW/h, during August 2021 to July 2022.
