Six days after the spectacular collapse of the Marker River bridge in Napa, Petroecuador reported on Tuesday, February 28, that technical work in the area was 95% advanced.

The tower for the air passage of the Transecuador gas pipeline system (SOTE) was assembled, the clamps were installed, and the cable and pipeline were secured. This is to restore the work of SOTE, the public company explains via social networks.

Oil production drops by half, amounting to 243,678 barrels, due to the closure of wells that paralyzed oil pipelines

If the weather conditions are favorable, the work is expected to be completed in the next few hours and crude oil pumping will be gradually reactivated.

Petroecuador indicated that the work is being carried out by a multidisciplinary team from the public company and the Army Corps of Engineers and that they have not stopped, despite the bad weather.

As for the works for the operation of the Shushufindi – Quito pipeline, the state-owned oil company stated that it has a progress of 35%. This pipe will be placed on the SOTE structure, in order to have more stability. At the same time, the eighth version of SOTE and the sixth of Poliduct will be built.

How was the ‘guindado’ support dismantled in SOTE so that crude oil could be released?

The bridge over the Marker River, in the area of El Reventador, collapsed due to heavy rains that undermined the foundations of the tributary, which caused the infrastructure to collapse, engulfing the foundations on which the pipeline supports were located.

Because of this, on February 22, Petroecuador decided to stop pumping oil in order to avoid damage to the environment.
