The interannual growth of loans to individuals was 15.4% in January 2023 and reached S/160,226 million, influenced by the higher loans of this modality in soles, which increased 16.2%, reported the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).
The monetary authority also reported that, in the first month of the year, credit to individuals rose 0.6% per month, the eighteenth month of consecutive growth.

In this group, consumer loans had a 12-month increase of 21.1%, driven by the year-on-year increase in loans of this modality at 21.0% in soles and 22.3% in dollars. In monthly terms, consumer credit advanced 0.9%.

By segments, vehicle loans had an interannual expansion rate of 16.6% in January, and a monthly growth of 1.1% in the same period.
Credit card loans had a year-on-year growth of 32.7%. While the year-on-year increase in the rest of consumer loans was 19.0% in January, its monthly expansion rate being 1.0%.
