This was announced by the Association of Ecuadorian Banana Exporters (AEBE), after highlighting the good results of Ecuadorian banana exports to that destination, as well as to other countries in the region.

According to figures from the Statistical Observatory of Bananas (OEB), the country in this region (Middle East) that bought the most fruit between January and December 2022 was Turkey with a share of 33.38%, followed by destinations such as Saudi Arabia (23, 34 %) and Iraq (18.52%), countries that are in second and third place, respectively.

Qatar is in seventh place with a share of 1.10%, which is an increase of 0.54% compared to 2021.

“In general, during this period you can see the process of expanding fruit exports in the Middle East market, due to the high annual growth rates of this period in eight of the ten countries that make up the region,” he analyzed. export union.

The total export of bananas from Ecuador to the world reached 3.145 million dollars during the year 2022, according to the official data of the Central Bank.
