Perupetro SA informed this February 26 that it is advancing in lto promote investment in 31 new areas that have been identified with oil and gas potentialas part of the boost to exploratory activity that will reactivate Peru to ensure the discovery of hydrocarbon reserves.
According to the state company, the 31 identified areas are located in the Marañón, Ucayali, Madre de Dios, Tumbes and Salaverry basins. Peru has 18 sedimentary basins, of which only five have been explored or semi-explored, which demonstrates the need to promote this activity in the country.
“These areas were presented weeks ago to investors in Houston (USA)., who showed interest in the potential of hydrocarbons, both on the coast and in the jungle, as well as offshore. In the coming weeks, representatives of companies plan to arrive in the country to review the technical information of the areas with hydrocarbon potential,” Perupetro detailed in a press release.
In this regard, he indicated that interested companies may submit individual proposals to carry out the respective process and sign License Contracts or Technical Evaluation Agreements.
On the other hand, Perupetro ruled out that it is The continuity of hydrocarbon production operations in the northwest of the country is at risk, since the various actions that correspond to comply with the deadlines established with the entry of new operators have been coordinated in advance.
He assured that the lots, whose contractual ties expire in October and November of this year, will not see their operations interrupted, for which reason he ruled out that the income from royalties and canons received by the State could be affected.
Finally, he pointed out that an informative process of citizen participation has already begun with local authorities and civil society in Talara, in order to provide timely information on the procedures that will be implemented in the coming weeks for the signing of new License Contracts, before of its expiration date.
