AFP: affiliates already receive a greater discount on their salary due to an increase in the insurance premium

Since January 2023, a higher percentage is being subtracted from the salaries of all affiliates of the private pension system.

The Pension Fund Administrators (AFP) have raised their premium cost from 1.74% to 1.84%. This occurs after the third process of the 2022 public tender, in which AFP Habitat, AFP Integra, Prima AFP and Profuturo AFP agreed to increase their percentage.

In this way, the salary of all members of the Private Pension System (SPP) 5.75% more is being discounted compared to 2022.

“Consequently, the resulting premium rate applicable to all SPP affiliates, for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2023, is 1.84% applicable to the insurable remuneration of affiliated workers, up to the maximum determined by the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP, in accordance with the provisions of the SPP”, can be read in the tender approved on November 30, 2022.

It should be noted that already in 2021 there had been an increase of 28.9% and the premium reached 1.74%. Likewise, in January of this year, three AFP funds registered accumulated losses at year-on-year level: the short-term yield of fund 1 fell 2.15% in its nominal value, while fund 2 fell by 3.85% and Fund 3 fell by 6.46%.
