The Peruvian Association of Consumers and Users (aspect) reported this Wednesday the 22nd that Indecopi will penalize Gloria SA for incurring in the false labeling of its Soy Vida products.
The complaint was filed in July 2018 and, after a pending pandemic, the Indecopi Consumer Protection Commission, through Resolution No. 0330-2023/CC2, declared Aspec’s claim founded and fined the Gloria company for 124.95 UIT (S/618,502.5), which can be appealed.
To detail, the controversy arose because the 150 g, 400 g and one liter products of “Soy Vida UHT evaporated soy milk”which did not reflect its true nature by being marketed as evaporated milk when its composition belies it.
Rachel Chávez, Aspec’s external legal advisor, assured that, despite the time elapsed to resolve this controversy, “it was possible to guarantee the protection of the consumer’s right to information, due to the variation in the labeling design and the denomination that truly corresponds: soy drink”.
