Minem directs S/200 million to convert cars from LPG to CNG

He Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) announced that the S/2,000 discount voucher is now available for owners of cars that use LPG interested in converting their vehicle to natural gas with the program NGV savingsof the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE), within the framework of the massification of natural gas.

Through the subscription of the addendum to the INFOGAS Trust Agreement, promoted by Minem, the governing body of the mining-energy sector in Peru makes available an additional amount of S/200 million to finance 100,000 vehicles with these conversions.

By delivering this non-refundable subsidy, It seeks to cover 50% of the maximum amount of financing for the conversion of vehicles through the GNV Savings program, which is S/4,000 for this 2023. The balance will be financed through the program, without an initial fee, without interest and with a return within a maximum period of three years, through CNG recharges in favor of the drivers.

Minem estimates that, with the application of this mechanism, the number of conversions to NGV funding the plan will increase by approximately 50% over the next three months. With these actions, it is expected to contribute to increasing the number of vehicles to NGV in the Peruvian automotive fleet and have more than 450,000 vehicles that use cleaner and cheaper energy this year.
