The lack of money in the agencies of the Banco de la Nación prevents 61,852 beneficiaries from the Pension 65 program in the Puno region receive their economic subsidy of S/250, corresponding to the month of January and February of this year. Janneth Capacoila Grimaldoshead of said program in Puno, told La República that the affected they have the money in their accounts, but they cannot collect because since the strike began on January 4, 2023 and Prosegur cars cannot supply banks.
He explained that throughout the altiplano they are paid at 50 points, where it is not easy to reach due to roadblocks. He specified that if before it was difficult for older adults to get there because of the distance, due to the protests the situation is worse. In addition, 10% of beneficiaries also did not receive payment in the months of November and December 2022 due to stoppages in the most remote areas of the highlands.
Janneth Capacoila explained that this Sunday will be paid to 1,600 beneficiaries from the district of Taraco and Pusi, Huancané province. The disbursement will be made through the Juliaca banking agency. The payment to the others will depend on the arrival of the flow carts.
What is Pension 65?
Pensión 65 is a program of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion whose purpose is to grant economic protection to adults over the age of 65 who do not have the means to subsist under basic conditions. This is done through a bonus S/250 delivered every 2 months.
