Congress grants the Executive powers for economic reactivation

However, the text approved by the Economy and Decentralization commissions of Congress does not include the complete specifications of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), which originally occupied 42 requested faculties.

With 79 votes in favor, the Plenary of the Congress of the Republic approved, in the first vote, the substitute text of the Bill 3941which proposes delegating to the Executive Power the power to legislate in matters of economic reactivation and modernization of State management.

“The delegation of powers is on the court of the Executive. Now, it is in his hands to dictate measures that really improve the living conditions of all Peruvians. The Peruvian Government must and must assume these powers with great responsibility. Peru needs to reactivate its economy and Peruvians need better services from the State,” said Congresswoman Diana González, president of Parliament’s Decentralization Commission.

As recalled, the President of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otárolaappeared last January before Congress to request legislative powers for 90 days on specific matters of economy, taxation, finance, attention to populations with high social conflict, modernization of the State, among others.

However, the text approved by the Economy and Decentralization commissions of Congress does not include all the requests of the Executive Power, which originally occupied 42 requested faculties. Finally, it was at 33.
