Officials of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) have held meetings throughout this week with union representatives, authorities and international institutions to carry out the scope and objectives of the proposed delegation of legislative powers in fiscal, tax, financial and economic reactivation matters presented by the Executive Power, on behalf of the Pedro Castillo, to the Congress of the Republic.
Minister Pedro Francke and the MEF technical team met with the board of directors of the Network of Urban and Rural Municipalities of Peru (Remurpe). During the meeting, the official explained to the burgomasters the importance of the reform and at the same time indicated that the appointment served to collect their opinions and points of view.
“On the basis of this tax reform, we will be able to have tax revenues to channel them through the budget to regional and local governments,” he said.
The MEF also held a meeting with the board of directors and representatives of the companies associated with the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE), to whom the proposed tax measures were explained, and it was reiterated that these will not reduce competitiveness to the sector, but what is sought is to promote modifications that allow generating additional income without compromising the competitiveness of our economy or affecting rights acquired by investors.
“The proposal is that for the highest tranches of operating margin a higher tax rate be set. If this margin is low, they do not touch each other so as not to affect their productivity, ”said the minister at the meeting.
Another of the quotes from MEF was the one that he held with the technical team of the World Bank Group that is in the country, with which comments and opinions were exchanged about the tax modification proposal.
This last November 12, a meeting was held with the board of the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR), to whom the scope and objectives of the proposed measures were also explained within the framework of the delegation of powers.
