The CPI rebounds to 5.9% in January and food prices moderate to 15.4%

In Spain, year-on-year inflation was 5.7% in December, two tenths less than in January. Core inflation (excluding unprocessed food and energy products), for its part, has climbed to 7.5%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) has risen two tenths in January in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) to stand at 5.6% and in Navarra it has remained at 6.4%, according to the final data for January published today by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The CPI rose to 5.9% in Spain in January compared to the same month last year. Year-on-year inflation was 5.7% in December, two tenths less than in January.

Food prices moderate their rise to 15.4% in their interannual rate, three tenths less than in December, after the VAT reduction applied to certain products in the shopping basket.

Core inflation (excluding unprocessed food and energy products), for its part, has climbed to 7.5%.
