The President of the Government of Navarre, Maria Chivitehas ensured that the investment of 1024 million euros announced by the Volkswagen Group for the Landaben factory, in Pamplona, ”guarantees the future and employment” of the plant.
Chivite has traveled to Germany, where today he met with the president of Volkawagen Navarra and the group’s head of Production and Logistics. “I return from this visit more than satisfied, with the future of the plant guaranteed and new announcements that will come maybe later“, has indicated, interviewed in the program “ganbara” from Radio Euskadi.
In any case, the president of the Foral Government has explained that they have transferred to the German firm their intention to also maintain employment in the “supplier park”. “I understand that there will be companies that, by working with electric vehicles, have no place, but I understand that there will be new jobs,” she said.
Regarding the transformations that must be carried out in the plant, Chivite recalled that in Landaben “There is good social dialogue” and that “they have spent many years with social peace”. “The workers and workers have made a joint effort and [la de Navarra] it is the most productive company in the Group; There have always been agreements and I hope it will continue to be so,” he stressed.
This Wednesday, the Provincial Executive will approve in a government session the declaration of regional interest of the “greatest investment that Navarre will have in its history”.
Specifically, Volkswagen will invest 1,024 million euros in the Landaben plant between 2023 and 2027 to build a new assembly hall for the production of electric cars, and collection and sequencing of batteries. The ship will have 11,000 square meters, and would maintain its maximum production capacity at 400,000 cars per year.
The German multinational intends that the adaptation work to electrification be carried out this year and that in 2026 two models of electric cars will be produced.
