Pedro Castillo calls for inclusive solutions for vulnerable peoples during APEC Forum

The Republic President, Pedro Castillo Terrones, has called for inclusive, prompt and adequate solutions for vulnerable peoples, before the leaders of the 21 economies of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC hole).

In this context, during his virtual participation, the president advocated for measures that help alleviate poverty and inequality, to contribute to the economic recovery of families and the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as to face crime.

Likewise, the head of state proposed the production of vaccines against COVID-19 in all the economies of the Asia Pacific, and announced the creation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, in support of economic development and environmental sustainability.

Regarding sustainability, Castillo spoke out in favor of defending the environment and expressed his concern for the health of children and the degradation of rivers affected by pollution.

Finally, the President of the Republic reiterated Peru’s offer to exercise the Presidency of APEC in 2024, in order to work on an inclusive economic development agenda.

Peru has managed to increase its production towards the Asia Pacific and, together with Chile and Mexico, make up the regional forum, which today has become the geography that leads the Pacific economy.

The APEC Forum brings together leaders from the world’s most dynamic economies, including the United States, China, Russia, Canada, Japan, Korea, Chile, Mexico, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries .
